Anyway, three weeks ago on my new PC, the equalizer was set entirely flat (as is should be as a default!), and I was pleasantly suprised at how good these speakers sounded compared to the previous PC I was using.įast-forward to today and it seems the treble is depleted-don't know, maybe it's my imagination, but I have noticed this on more than one recording.

In renting cars innumerable times in the last 30 years, I have found that the previous driver has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS turned the bass up all the way, and I have to turn it down (I prefer listening to music, and not thudding-I'm such an insufferable snob). Since everyone on the planet adores BIG BASS, I always check these settings, say, for example, when I rent a car. I checked this, because my AudioEngine A2+ speakers sounded different (better) than with my previous system. I was able to find the equalizer a few weeks ago when I set up my new PC. Nearly EVERY time I sit down to do this, the system (laptop in this case) does not recognize my ADC as the audio input-or there is some other problem-and I have to search endlessly through the menus because Microsoft has completely changed where everything is! I know this from years of recording vinyl LPs to FLAC using Audacity. I suspect this is because Microsoft rearranges the sound settings menus incessantly, and the correct answer will differ from what was posted the day earlier. If you think you have found a new bug in either of the new effects, please report them by starting a new topic in the Windows, MacOS or Linux board.I have researched this online, but this question yields innumerable different answers. The frequency value for each slider may be revealed by hovering the mouse pointer over a slider, and waiting for the Tool Tip to appear. Labeling the sliders is considered by the developers to be an "enhancement", and will hopefully be added in a later version. The sliders in the "Graphic Eq" do not display their center frequency values. This is a feature planned for the next Audacity release. The new effects do not yet support import / export of custom curves. Hopefully this will be fixed in a later version of Audacity, though no fix exists yet. This is because the Effects Manager is not yet able to clean out the listing of old effects that no longer exist. When Audacity 2.3.3 is updating an older version of Audacity, the old Equalization effect will still be listed in the Effects Manager. The effects have also been simplified by replacing some options with fixed optimal values. The new effects fix all known bugs that were in the old effect, including the crash bug when using the effect in Macros, the crash bug when deleting "unnamed", incorrect settings bug, and the disappearing control point bug. Note that in the new effects, the preset curves are now accessed via the "Manage" button, in "Factory Presets". The old Equalization effect is no longer available. Graphic EQ: A graphic equalizer, similar to the "Graphic" mode in the old Equalization effect.Filter Curve: An FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) filter, similar to "Draw" mode in the old Equalization effect. In Audacity 2.3.3, the Equalization effect has been replaced by two new effects:
